Dan Cook

As vice president for facilities design and operations and university architect, Dan Cook is responsible for leading the successful planning, design, and construction of new campus facilities as well as renovation, maintenance, and utilities projects. He is also the head steward of Notre Dame’s utilities, maintenance, building services, international facilities, and landscape teams which support more than 220 buildings and 1,000 acres of campus grounds. Facilities Design and Operations also hosts the University Facilities Information Team whose responsibilities encompass the tracking of all facilities use and inventory data.

Prior to arriving at Notre Dame, he was the Executive Director of Planning, Design and Construction at the University of Texas at Austin where he was responsible for innovative and responsive solutions for more than 20 million square feet of facilities. Before that he spent a full career in the U.S. Navy as a Civil Engineer Corps Officer, designing, building, and maintaining Department of Defense facilities around the world.

Dan received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Science degree in Construction Engineering and Management from Purdue University. He holds a license to practice architecture in the state of Indiana. Along with his wife, Emily (’95), he has seven delightful children.
