Jane Livingston serves as vice president for information technology and chief information officer at the University of Notre Dame, where she leads the strategic direction of IT in support of the University’s academic mission, research enterprise, and global reach. Since joining Notre Dame in 2021, she has focused on building a future-ready IT organization by advancing stewardship, fostering innovation, and uniting teams across campus through shared purpose and strategic collaboration.

Jane has championed several key advancements at Notre Dame, including the launch of a University-wide IT governance model, the expansion of the University’s cybersecurity and risk program, and a suite of initiatives that strengthen organizational culture and talent development—including the IT Fellows and Pathways programs, a dedicated Culture & Engagement team, and support for the preferred name initiative. Central to her leadership is the growth of the IT@ND community, which brings together campus partners through shared learning, purposeful collaboration, and signature efforts such as the annual IT@ND retreat, designed to deepen alignment, spark innovation, and advance the University’s collective IT strategy.

She brings 25 years of leadership experience in higher education technology, spanning liberal arts, Ivy League, and public research institutions. Prior to Notre Dame, Jane served as chief information officer at Florida State University. Before that, she spent 13 years in increasingly senior IT roles at Yale University, where she received the 2017 Linda Lorimer Award for Distinguished Service and served as executive sponsor of the Women in Technology program.

In 2023, Jane was elected to the EDUCAUSE Board of Directors and now serves as vice chair, reflecting her national leadership in higher education IT. She also serves on the steering committee for the Common Solutions Group and has held advisory roles with organizations including Internet2, Microsoft, Google, Florida Lambda Rail, the Northwest Regional Data Center (NWRDC), and Zoom for Higher Education.

Jane is passionate about developing high-performing teams with a wide range of perspectives and delivering technology solutions that reflect the needs of the entire University. She holds a B.A. in History from Wichita State University and an M.S. in Information Management from Syracuse University. She is a graduate of the EDUCAUSE Leadership Institute, Leading Change Institute, and the MOR Advanced Leaders Program.

Away from work, Jane enjoys spending time traveling with her husband, Bert. She and Bert live in South Bend with their two cats. She loves to garden, cook, hike and travel.
