    Joanne Goode

Wow! It seems as though there ought to be some breathing space between the end of the '96 Annual Conference and planning for the '97 Conference, but the pace doesn't let up! I'm sure the PAM members who volunteered to be Roundtable Moderators would agree, it's already time to think about the roundtable agendas, formats and equipment needs. The Moderators will be posting requests to PAMnet to solicit your ideas for the roundtables...be sure to contact them and let them know of your interests.

A past PAM Chair told me one of the most important responsibilities of being a Chair was to be a good listener. At last June's Annual Breakfast Meeting and informally, at other times, there was quite a bit of discussion on the format and scheduling of the PAM Roundtables. I did a lot of listening, although I wasn't too terribly confident I could do much about what I was hearing! My primary emphasis since has been to work on scheduling longer sessions for the roundtables and scheduling them at times when people might be able to linger informally to continue the discussion. Although we are still early in the scheduling process, it looks as though we will be able to accommodate those needs.

If you, as well, have been inundated with the beginning of a new year and haven't had the time to think about such things as joining a PAM committee, it is not too late! A list of the committee chairs and the roundtable moderators, along with an email link to each Chair or Moderator, can be found at:

    http://www.nd.edu/~tmiller5/PAM/Bulletin/Officers/96_97.html

Contact one of the Committee Chairs and ask how you can help or if you have an idea or a project that you think a particular committee might be interested in, let the Committee Chair or myself know. The PAM Division has been a leader in implementing new ideas and technologies and we want to continue that tradition.

I wish you all a rewarding completion to 1996.
