The project is sponsored by the DoD SBIR program, Phase II, U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Research Development and Engineering Center (AMRDEC) through the IllinoisRocstar LLC. Dr. W. Chew (AMRDEC) and Dr. M. Brandyberry (IR) program managers, K. Matous (PI); Amount awarded to ND $195,000. Experimental part of the project is led by Prof. N. Glumac at UIUC.

Dr. Karel Matous has accepted an Associate Professor position at the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame.

Dr. Karel Matous has been invited to deliver a keynote lecture entitled "Numerical Simulation of Heterogeneous Propellant Combustion by Generalized Finite Element Method" at the 10th US National Congress on Computational Mechanics, Columbus, OH, as the part of the symposium Extended/generalized FEM and other partition of unity based methods.
