Arturo Sandoval plays Ave Maria at 2016 Commencement

Arturo Sandoval, an internationally acclaimed jazz and classical musician and composer, played the “Ave Maria” on trumpet at the University of Notre Dame’s Commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 15. Sandoval, a Cuban refugee, was there to receive an honorary degree for his distinguished career in the fine arts, which includes six Billboard Awards, an Emmy Award and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He has recorded and performed with artists ranging from Dizzy Gillespie to Frank Sinatra and the Boston Pops to Justin Timberlake.
