I retired in June, 2001 as professor
in the English
Department at NMU after having taught there for thirty-three wonderful years. My main
teaching and research interests are/were in medieval studies, linguistics, Indology, folklore, post-colonial studies,
Shakespeare, literature in general, mythology,
and religious studies. My last book Millennium: Apocalypse and
Antichrist appeared in the winter of 1999,
published by CrossRoads Books/Cross Cultural Publications, Inc.
I have just finished the book "The Trial and Death of Jesus:
gospel Narratives and Indian Traditions"; scholars have been relentlessly looking for that missing
source in order to account for the several hitherto-unresolved problems found in the
trial narratives of the canonical gospels.
After having spent 33 years in the UP of Michigan, I want to thank all the wonderful folks at NMU for making my
life a delightful odyssey especially in teaching, and scholarship. I am now
here at Notre Dame with my family and friends. Life has not ended but only changed.
As Browning's Rabbi Ben Ezra would put it, the best is yet to come.
