Physics Animation Samples

Image of Speed

This animation shows the position of a moving ladybug at different times. You read out the time and the position and calculate the speed.

Force Diagram

Taking the wagon as an isolated system, you identify the forces acting on the wagon. The interactive movie allows you to find out the net force.

A Thrown Wrench

Center of mass is the point where the weight acts. A wrench has an irregular shape and its center of mass isn't at the geometric center.

Simultaneity

A motion may be viewed rather differently from different reference systems. Simultaneity becomes relative in Einstein's theory.

Motion Is Relative

All motions are viewed relative to other objects. You get a particular picture of motion if you choose a certain reference system.

Standing Waves

Superposition of two traveling waves may lead to standing waves, in which nodes and antinodes appear.

A Concave Mirror

This interactive animation summarizes various images associated different locations of an object. Click a candle to see its image.

2-Slit Experiment

A gun shoots indestructible bullets or electrons at two narrow slits. Fundamentally different distribution patterns are formed.
