Guitarist/songwriter Kurt Vile plays a brand of psychedelic, atmospheric folk rock that has invited comparisons to Springsteen, Neil Young, Bob Seger, Syd Barrett, Sonic Youth, among others. Vile's latest LP, last year's Smoke Ring for My Halo (Matador Records), earned strong critical praise and appeared on many best of 2011 lists: e.g., Spin #4, NME #5, Pitchfork #16, Rolling Stone #39, Rough Trade #3, etc. He's toured with the likes of The Flaming Lips, Bright Eyes, The Black Keys, Dinosaur Jr., The National, and, most recently, Thurston Moore
