o Please return the results for Problem Set 1 to me by email by 5:00pm Tuesday, January 17^th

o Please read chapter 1 from the text

o Download the lecture notes for the class introduction, “Moving from correlation to causation”

o Please familiarize yourself with the material from the handout “What I should have learned in ECON 30330”

o Download Problem set 2. It is due in one week, Wednesday, January 25^th

· Introduction to STATA class, January 20^th

o The primary statistical package we will use throughout the semester is STATA. If you took ECON 30330 you were introduced to STATA. To familiarize you with the package, I will run a voluntary tutorial on Friday morning, January 20^th from 8am – 9:15am in the regular classroom.

· For class on Monday January 23^rd

o There is no class on Monday January 23^rd. I will be traveling with Professor Eric Sims to Washington, DC for the annual March for Life. I encourage all who have the time to attend. If you do not have the money to attend, let me know. I will pay for your bus ticket.

· For class on Wednesday, January 25th

o Please read Chapter 2 in the textbook, the Bivariate Regression Model

o Download the PPT and detailed derivations for the chapter

o Problem set 1 is due at the start of class
