Dr. Elizabeth Jane Doering: Adjunct Assistant Professor in the
College of Arts and Letters, co-teacher with
professor Patrick Martin of Romance Languages and
Literatures, of the course "Simone Weil:
Justice, Grace and Compassion" offered in the
NDU disciplines of Theology, Romance Languages and
Literatures, and Gender Studies, author of articles
on both pedagogy and Simone Weil: "Jean-Jacques
Rousseau et Simone Weil: deux théoriciens d'une
politique moderne," "Simone Weil: Le
Pouvoir des Mots," Cahiers Simone Weil;
"Gaining Competence in Communication and Culture
through French Commercials," The French
Review. She has presented over a dozen academic
papers on Weil's social thought and is presently
preparing a manuscript on "Simone Weil and
Social Justice."
Dr. Eric Springsted:
President and co-founder of the American Weil
Society; Chaplain and lecturer in philosophy at
Princeton Theological Seminary; author and editor of
four books on Weil, including Christus Mediator,
Simone Weil and the Suffering of Love and Spirit,
Nature and Community. He has also authored
"Who Will Make Us Wise: How the Church is
Failing Liberal Education"and many invited
articles on Simone Weil, i.e., "The Religious
Basis of Culture: T.S.Eliot and Simone Weil".
His most recent book, Simone Weil, Selected
Essays," is being used in the new Notre
Dame course on Simone Weil. He is a highly esteemed
speaker on Weil's spirituality.
