Meet The Undertones

Mikey Clark '12

Carmel, IN

Mikey has been known to "just stand there" as well as "bust a move," although the ratio between the two highly favors the latter. The jury is still out on whether that is a good thing or not. SHOUT OUT AND MUCH LOVE TO THE JURY BY THE WAY! He is a Biological Sciences and Theology major from Carmel, IN, the world's most highly roundabout-ed land mass. In his fictional spare time he enjoys studying for the MCAT, playing Apples to Apples, and catching up on sleep. He has lots of respect and love for the eleven other guys with whom he is privileged to be called the Undertones. Also, a special thank you goes out to God, his family, and his friends, without whom none of the things he cherishes in life would have meaning.

Hal Melia '12

Dayton, OH

Hal joined the Undertones at the end of his freshman year, adding it to the plethora of artsy activities he pursues at Notre Dame. In addition to singing in the Undertones and ND Glee Club, Hal is a member of the ND Band of the Fighting Irish, and is also a member of the fabled theatrical troupe PEMCo. He is deeply grateful to his parents and friends for their ongoing support. In the few spare moments he has each day, Hal enjoys talking about himself in the third person. He gets a max of 100 words so he'll have to

Tim Schumer '12

Buffalo, NY

Hailing from the great land of Buffalo, NY Tim has dedicated his life to three things: Chemical Engineering, singing, and Buffalo. Fueled by his passion for all that is even distantly related to his homeland, and utilizing his formal schooling he has even attempted to turn himself into a large bovine creature. Realizing the obvious flaws in his plot he sought fulfillment elsewhere. Compensating for his inability to become a free roaming majesty, he fills his conversations with as much talk of hockey, chicken wings, and Buffalo as anyone will bear. A confession however, Tim lives a few miles south of the Nickel City in Hamburg, NY, so he is in fact a Hamburger. But as he always says "Buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo."

Mitch Speer '12

South Bend, IN

Welcome! Mitchell Robert Speer started his musical career singing along to cassette tapes of The Backstreet Boys. He lives in Carroll Hall, and calls South Bend his hometown. A Mathematics and Supplementary Italian Major, Mitchell has no clue what he will be doing after college. He is a practicing Roman Catholic and enjoys playing and/or watching football, playing sand volleyball, and eating Jimmy John's on Sunday afternoons. Speaking of food, BUFFALO WINGS! Mitchell has a pretty cool family too! Lui parla italiano und er spricht Deutsch. Check him out on facebook, where he does NOT refer to himself in the third person! Have a great day! "Get busy livin', or get busy dyin'. Damn right."

Barry Campion '12

Green Bay, WI

Barry is a junior Civil Engineering major from Green Bay, Wisconsin. He feels honored to be a "rookie" member of the group. He enjoys FOOTBALL, Christmas, road trips, elephant-sized puppies, and speaking in his charming(?) Wisconsin accent. His two favorite shows as a lad were "Legends of the Hidden Temple" and "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" He'll stop talking now. Come see our shows!!

Peter Baxter '13

East Grand Rapids, MI

Although Peter Baxter was born three weeks early, his lofty stature now distinguishes him amongst the back row of The Undertones and amidst large crowds during South Dining Hall's dinner rush. He loves his family and friends very much, and aside from music, his other passions include good food, catching up on sleep, languages, academia, time management, Lake Michigan and being outside in general. He deeply appreciates the opportunity to sing and spend time with such great and talented friends, and hopes you have a great day.

Dante Garcia '13

Tome, NM

Dante's just a pretty swell guy.

Michael Possin '13

Geneseo, IL

Michael Possin was born as a baby. Despite his small stature, lack of hair, and inability to speak, he never gave up his pursuit of music performance. He is a member of the Notre Dame Glee Club, PEMCo., and (of course) the Undertones. Currently the youngest member of the Undertones, he is recognized as one of the "Under-babies." Michael is presently a sophomore pursuing a double major in Accounting and German, hoping to someday have a career in the field of international business. In his spare time, Michael enjoys playing pick-up football games, watching Food Network with his roommate, and beat-boxing. Boom boom pfft.

John Kemnetz '13

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Known by many as the "Alanis Morissette of his generation", John Kemnetz brings to the Undertones some much needed ethnic diversity. For the twelve years prior to his arrival at Notre Dame, he lived in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where his favorite activities included camel racing, camel milking, and cameling, where the definition for "cameling" is open for interpretation. At Notre Dame, John has music directed and conducted several PEMCo shows, is the Liturgical Music Commissioner for Duncan Hall, and is the Secretary of the Notre Dame Glee Club. Apparently he's also a Computer Science Major.

Andrew Cloetingh '14

Philadelphia, PA

Born in the suburbs of the great city that is Philadelphia, Andrew did fun things for the greater majority of his life. He is currently a psychology major and a member of the Glee Club and PEMCo, but in his free time he enjoys watching Philadelphia sports, teaching others how to dougie, and Ke$ha. He is extremely grateful to his family and friends for their love and support and is very happy to be singing with such a wonderful group of guys!

Alex Leslie '14

Onalaska, WI

Alex is an English and Philosophy major from that part of Wisconsin where Milwaukee and Madison aren't. Most of his time is spent reading (yay, Faulkner) or training for triathlons (yay, running). Hopefully, people will someday think that he's smart enough to let him study at their graduate school. He often finds simple things really exciting. Alex has always loved music, especially if by "music" one means Steely Dan. Third person jokes aren't funny.

Billy Raseman '14

Barrington, IL

Billy is currently a freshman majoring in Civil Engineering. He is a recent addition to the Undertones, and is lucky enough to be a member of the Notre Dame Glee Club and Climbing Club as well. He loves puns, his family, friends, the outdoors, and (of course) music. He is so grateful for all the opportunities that he has been given at Notre Dame and wants to thank all of those who have helped him get to where he is today.
