Who Benefits? |
|
The purpose of the Upward Bound Program is to serve and be an advocate for first generation and low income students from the South Bend Community School Corporation, to help them successfully graduate high school, and enroll in a post-secondary institution.
With 100 percent of its students graduating high school and 90 percent enrolling in college, Upward Bound assists students through academic tutoring, college visits, summer residential experience, leadership conferences, and cultural and social activities. Upward Bound is currently funded through the U.S. Department of Education in 950 communities throughout the nation.
Through the combined efforts of the Notre Dame Upward Bound Advisory Board, students, and volunteers from our community, with the funds raised, we were able to disburse a $900 college scholarship to ten Notre Dame Upward Bound 2009 High School Graduates.
