Guidelines for Paper Submissions
- The author must be a student currently enrolled in the College of Arts & Letters, with the exception of spring graduates who completed their research and writing before graduation but after the December deadline of the previous issue.
- The author must specify the major department (for example, History, FTT, PLS, etc.) to which he/she is submitting a paper. This department need not represent his/her own major; the distinction serves only to organize papers according to appropriate subject areas.
- The author must not simultaneously submit his/her paper to another peer-reviewed academic journal.
- The paper must have been completed within one year of the submission deadline-that is, between last year's deadline and this year's.
- The editors will consider the admittance of group submissions on a case-by-case basis.
- The submission should be around 20-40 pages in length (though our limits are reasonably flexible) and represent the unique, research-based scholarship of the author. It must be revised and proofread fully.
- All submissions must be submitted via email to ujournal@nd.edu according to the following specifications:
- Insert a page at the beginning of your paper with the following information: your name, your email address, paper title, department to which you are submitting, and the date of your submission;
- Include page numbers;
- Endnotes may be in any format, but if chosen for publication, you must include citations in endnotes using Chicago style rules; numbers linking text to notes must be software-generated, not manually written;
- Remove your name from the text of your paper (including headers/footers) with the exception of the information page described above.
- If chosen for publication, you must commit to attending a reception to be announced later in the semester.
