The Trumpet Tradition of Excellence...And Knowing It

When one thinks of Notre Dame, one thinks of the tradition. There are the more recognizable traditions, such as running out of the tunnel, Touchdown Jesus, and students managers painting the team's helmets on Friday night.  But behind all those traditions, there are many more, unspoken ones that are religiously passed on year after year.

Well, when one thinks of the Notre Dame Trumpets, they also think of tradition.  Not only do we carry on the trumpet tradition of being the best marching and playing section, there are also the many traditions that one is charged with passing on when they become a trumpet.  We have more traditions than one can count, many of which have been passed down for untold years.  An alum from the class of 1980 told us that Trumpets had many of the same traditions when he was in school 20 years ago.  It seems that boredom is a constant here in South Bend, and the use of creativity to break the monotony is a constant too.

If you would like to read about some of the Trumpet Traditions, a few are described below.  These, of course, are all open to the public.  Many of our other traditions we hold very dear, and learning what they are is all a part of becoming a Notre Dame Trumpet.
