Activities Available to ISFV 11 Attendees:

 

Golfing in the Notre Dame area

Theer are two courses on campus, and both are available to Notre Dame visitors. The Notre Dame Golf Course, on the southwest corner of campus, offers nine holes of golf. The Warren Golf Course, established in 1999, is located on the north side of campus and offers 18 holes of golf. Both courses provide cart and club rental. The Warren Golf Course has received several commendations, including a ranking of #33 in Golf Digest's 2001 Best Daily Fee Courses.

Several other recreational facilities on campus including tennis courts, the Rolfs Aquatic Center, walking and jogging routes, and indoor health clubs are available to conference attendees at nominal cost.


College Football Hall of Fame

The College Football Hall of Fame, in downtown South Bend, Indiana, has exhibits dedicated to over 800 Hall of Famers, as well as a 360-degree theater, interactive exhibits, and a training center where visitors can test their knowledge of college football history as well as their playing skills. The Hall of Fame is open daily to visitors.

 


Studebaker Museum

The Studebaker Museum, also in downtown South Bend, Indiana, showcases 114 years of automobile history, from the Conestoga wagon of the Studebaker family to the last Studebaker automobile that came off the assembly line. The museum features many old carriages as well as early-1900's concept cars and Studebaker military vehicles. This museum is also open daily to visitors.

 


Snite Museum of Art

The Snite Museum of Art, located on the campus of the University of Notre Dame, features traveling exhibits as well as a collection containing about 20,000 art objects either owned by or on long term loan to the University. The Museum is open to the public Tuesdays through Sundays.

 

 


Nature lovers may enjoy visiting the nearby Indiana Dunes State Park, or Fernwood Botanical Garden, both located a short drive from the Notre Dame area. In addition, Chicago, Illinois, is located a 1 1/2 hour drive from Notre Dame. Frequent train service to Chicago is provided through the South Shore Line which operates out of South Bend Regional Airport. Summer activities in Chicago include baseball (Chicago Cubs & Chicago White Sox), as well as shopping, museums and dining (Taste of Chicago).  A visit to Chicago’s Navy Pier, which contains a park, many restaurants, a museum, and tour boats, may be planned.
