What is expected from you, the volunteer:

  • You meet on a weekly basis with a group of children/ambassadors at your assigned school.
  • Be realistic about your time. Make sure that you have enough time to devote to TAKE TEN and the children with whom you work.
  • Training is mandatory.
  • DRESS CODE: All volunteers are required to abide by their respective school's dress code. A copy of the code will be available at the general training session.
  • Be on time.
  • Remember that your commitment is to the children with whom you work.
  • Remember, when working with children, that you lead by example.

    Training is mandatory. If you are unable to attend, please contact us at taketen@nd.edu to make alternative arrangements.

    General Training (please attend both sessions):

    Team Leaders:

    Leader Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the team members' planning of weekly activities
  • Collaborate with the sponsor/teacher in planning the weekly activities and other TAKE TEN activities e.g. poster and creative writing competition
  • Assist in the evaluation of TAKE TEN
  • Maintain regular contact with the Project Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator to ensure, amongst others, that the team has sufficient volunteers, transport and the necessary supplies
    Meetings:

    There will be a monthly team leader meeting, usually on the first Monday of every month from 8:00-9:00 pm at the Center for Social Concerns Coffee House: University of Notre Dame.
