25 September 2003 — Our First Meal at the New House

After first enjoying a gourmet meal from Chez Ronald, Chris, Mairi and I explored the house — starting in the basement.

Note that the furnace and such have yet to be installed (they'll go in the dark space to the right of Chris and Mairi in the picture at left), we've no windows in the look-out portion (photo below), and we still have a dirt floor.

Heading up to the second floor (the first hasn't really changed since the last pix), this is a little nook in the master bedroom.

And this is a view in the other north-facing bedroom, which will most likely be Mairi's room. That's the closet at left.

Now we'll go down the hall to the finished room over the garage (or "Frog")...

Above Left: Looking down the hall from the top of the steps.

Above Right: The window corner in the Frog, which faces south and west.

Left: The gable section of the Frog, which faces north.

Below Left: Looking back down the hall, the laundry room is at left.

Below Right: Opposite the laundry room are two closets built into the roof.

While we were at the house, we had visitors! Lou and Tracy and TJ walked down to see what was new.

Here are Mairi and Aunt Tracy, standing where the door onto the back deck will be.

A couple views of the back of the house, with Chris, Lou and TJ checking things out on the side.

The ground will be more gently sloped away from the building once they grade the yard, and the trees in the foreground of this picture will go.

Last but not least, a view of the front, complete with a Subaru in the driveway.

Note that the roof has been papered in preparation for the shingles, which are on the roof (in their shipping packaging).
