Robert Mullins (Hebrew University - Jerusalem) led an all-day hike thru the Wadi Kelt to Choziba (St. George's monastery).  The hike began above Ein Kelt, where a Roman period bridge was still visible.  Students were given time to enjoy the waterfall of Ein Kelt, then began the long walk thru the Judean wilderness to visit Choziba.  This experience provided a "first hand" understanding of the physiological constraints on desert monastics.  After visiting the reliquary at St. George's, the hike continued to Herod's Winter Palace just outside Jericho.   Several faculty lecturers in the summer session joined the desert trek.   Click on highlighted images below for enlarged versions of select pictures.
