Professor Spencer lectured to the Field School participants about the History of Israel/Palestine.  This information provided an important temporal depth to the region, recalled with regularity on numerous field trips around the region.  In addition, this understanding of the history of the area provided a basis for numerous conversations about the current social//political climate.
