Professor Shoemaker gave
a lecture on the history of monasticism in Egypt and Palestine. This
lecture provided an important seque for the student's research projects,
as well as to many of the archaeological sites visited. Prof. Shoemaker
also joined the group on their visit to Byzantine period mosaics near the
École Biblique, introduced by the current Armenian patriarchate.
