| CHICAGO'S
FIELD MUSEUM & the ORIENTAL INSTITUTE @ THE UNIVERSITY OF
CHICAGO
Professors James Phillips (Univ. of Illinois-Chicago),Anne Underhill (Curator, Field Museum) Students
traveled
to Chicago's Field Museum for a tour of the Near Eastern
collections.
James Phillips, and Anne Underhill spoke to the students about their
archaeological
research. Students also visited the Oriental Institute at the
University
of Chicago included a tour of the Near Eastern collections at the
Institute.
The class then dined at the Nile Restaurant, an arabic cafe that serves
many of the dishes they might sample in Jerusalem.

UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
Professors David Burr (Anatomy & Cell Biology),Richard Haak (Microbiology/Immunology) and Alex Robling (Anatomy & Cell Biology) Students
attended
an all-day visit to the Indiana University Medical School in
Indianapolis.
Members of the medical faculty outlined the types of research
opportunities
available in a medical school setting.

COLLECTION
David Jenkins (University of Notre Dame). Students visited the Anastos Collection of Byzantine literature at the University of Notre Dame, one of the premier holdings of Byzantine resources in the United States. They learned how to access resources in this specialized library, as well as a variety of web-based resources on Byzantine studies. |

| BASILLICA
TOUR & LITURGY DISCUSSION
Professor Michael Driscoll (University of Notre Dame) Students
were given
a tour of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on the Notre Dame campus, to
illustrate the symbolism inherent in components of church architecture
and adornment.

| JULY
4th AT THE COVE
South Bend Silverhawks(Covaleski Stadium) Students attended a July 4th minor league baseball game at Covaleski Stadium in South Bend. A sky box was rented for the event, "Swoop" the team mascott stopped by for a visit, and the evening ended with an impressive fireworks display. |
