Faculty Perspectives
Associate Professor Michael M. Stanisic
"By the time students reach this senior design course, they have the
basic knowledge that will serve them well in the working world," says
Associate Professor Michael M. Stanisic, course instructor for AME
470: Senior Design in Mechanical Engineering. "What they lack
is the experience in putting that knowledge to work. That's the purpose of
the course." According to Stanisic,
not only does the course give the students the opportunity to apply all
the skills they have learned to complete a very specific project, but they
also learn how to work in teams. "They quickly learn to understand and
appreciate what each team member brings to the table," he says. "They
also learn the value of communication and coordination among team members
to deliver a product on time and within budget."
