About the Squash Club

The Notre Dame Squash Club fulfills a dual purpose of providing recreational campus squash training and activities while also fielding a competitive traveling squash team at the intercollegiate level through the College Squash Association. Practices are open to all club members, and we encourage all ND students, faculty, and staff to join us, regardless of skill level.

The ND Squash Club provides a place to learn how to play squash and to learn how to play squash better. Through drills, we focus on building fundamentals, and through our ladder system, we provide opportunities for competition and the title of best squash player on campus. We have around 30 active members, and we are growing every year. The club also hosts two all-campus squash tournaments every year.

The ND Squash Team comprises the top eligible players in the squash club, and represents ND against other universities competing in the CSA. Typically we compete in 15-20 matches every year over 5-6 tournaments. This year we competed from coast to coast, from Washington to Harvard, and even hosted a home dual meet against Purdue and Western Michigan.

Finally, we also field a women's team. Although the men's team is open to the top 9 squash club members (regardless of gender), we also send a women's team to a few tournaments each year, including competing at the CSA Women's Nationals.

History the Squash Club

The ND Squash Club was founded in 2004 by James Zhang. Since then the club has grown both on campus and in competition, entering first as an emerging team and now competing amongst almost 60 other schools as full CSA members.

This year, the ND Squash Team competed in 20 matches, going 6 -14. Although we are a club sport, we play both varsity teams (Bard), and a wide range of club teams (Stanford is the #1 club team in the nation!). The ND Squash Club had over 120 members sign up at Activities night, and we currently have more than 30 active members.
