Catholic Social Tradition

An introduction to Principles of Catholic Social Teaching
This section was created to assist students in integrating Catholic social thought with their service experience and actions for justice.

Program in Catholic Social Tradition
The Program in Catholic Social Tradition is an interdisciplinary minor in the College of Arts and Letters. Since its inception in 1997, the program has been committed to providing undergraduate students with a deeper understanding of the social ramifications of the Catholic faith by drawing on the wealth of resources of the Catholic Social Tradition as found in the official documents of the Church and the experience of the Catholic community.

Video: " Strangers No Longer" Discussion

"Strangers No Longer: Being Neighbor to Our Immigrant Community", part III in the Center's “Sharing Our Catholic Social Tradition” series, explores the Catholic position on immigration issues and includes pastoral responses from voices in the community. Video: "Democracy Matters" Series

John Carr, Director of the Department of Social Development and World Peace of the U.S. Catholic Conference speaks on "Political Responsibility and Religion: Faithful Citizenship in the 2006 Elections," as part of the Sharing Our Tradition justice education series supported by Our Sunday Visitor Institute.
