Latino Leadership Intern Program
Academic Requirements
- Attend all preparatory classes and orientation activities:
- 4 classes during Spring semester 2009:
- Tuesday, January 27, 6:30-8:00 p.m.
- Tuesday February 17, 6:30-8:00 p.m.
- Tuesday, March 3, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, March 31, 6:30-8:00 p.m.
- Overnight (Saturday to Sunday) visit to sites in Chicago: February 28 -March 01, 2009.
- Visit with Site supervisor individually or in small groups before April 13, 2009.
- Register for three-credit course in Catholic Social Tradition, CST 33933; Latino Studies ILS, 35801; or Theology, THEO 33933 (Credit is granted in Fall of 2009, after students successfully complete all requirements.)
- Read course books and course packet articles.
- Complete study questions during the summer and send to the program directors after 4 weeks at the internship.
- Interview three leaders in the community during the summer.
- Keep a journal.
- Participate in reflection session with facilitator and other interns (approximately 3 times during summer)
- Present at retreat for interns and supervisors in Chicago, late July 2009.
- Write synthesis paper at the end of the experience, due upon return to campus.
- Participate in all follow up activities in fall 2009.
Required follow-up activities:
- Dinner discussion with other interns
