Marty Wolfson Marty Wolfson is the Director of the Higgins Labor Studies Program. He has taught economics at the University of Notre Dame since 1989. Before that, he was an economist at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, D.C.
His research investigates the effects on working people of financial markets, macroeconomic policy, globalization, and local economic development. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Community Forum for Economic Development, a local organization in South Bend whose mission is to promote social and economic equity and to increase the living standards and opportunities of local residents.
He teaches courses on political economy, globalization, financial crises, labor and the U.S. economy, and a College Seminar on Labor, Race, and the Struggle for Dignity.
He received the Rev. Edmund P. Joyce, C.S.C., Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching (2010) and the Grenville Clark Award for “advancing service to the community with a concern for social justice” (2006) from the University of Notre Dame.
