This
is a relatively new collection area of focus for the Museum.
Most of the pieces acquired are from the period of the 18th
Century to the 20th Century, with a predominance of examples
from Modern schools and periods such as Art Nouveau, Bauhaus,
and Vienna Werkstate.
There
are works by artists such as: Archibald Knox, Charles Robert
Ashbee, Josef Hoffmann, Joseph Maria Albrich, Louis Comfort
Tiffany, Henry Van de Velde, Peter Behrens, Maurice Dufrène,
Hugo Leven, and Marcel Wolfers.
The
collection also contains a number of fine examples from the
18th-Century workshops of Sèvres and Meissen.
