For the Incoming Freshmen and Sophomorically Challenged

Before you do ANYTHING!!  A few very important documents (.doc format).

  - Notre Dame Victory March and Alma Mater
  - Letter from Father John
  - Presidents' Welcome Letter
  - Frosh-O Welcome Letter
  - Siegfried Athletics

Welcome Freshmen (and visitors)!   Allow me to welcome you to our illustrious domicile.   During the next few years, Siegfried will be your home.   Oh, the camaraderie of it all! Our dorm is unlike any other on campus! It's big! It's air-conditioned! And it's plush! Before we get too carried away, know that we have our own chapel, kitchen, and laundry room. That's right, you have to do your own laundry in college! But seriously, Siegfried comes equiped with two lounges, it's very own printer and vending machines, and more study rooms than you could possibly use.

Students working in the Dining Room

Anyhoo, you probably need to know a few things before moving in, eh?   Like bed sheet sizes, dimensions of the room, how and why to loft... the list goes on ad infinum.

  • Room size: 12' x 14'
  • Mattress Size: 36" x 80" (buy long sheets)

Should you loft?   Well, don't worry about it.   You can't.   Not your first semester as a freshman, anyway.

So what should you bring?   You'd think people would remember stuff like this, but then again, people are dumber than you think.   Especially in Knott Hall.   Their freshmen (and sophomores, etc) are probably using this page as we speak to compensate for their own poor freshman orientation!

  • Clothing
    • Summer clothes
    • Fall/Winter clothes
    • Light jacket(s) / winter coat(s)
    • Shiny metallic dancing clothes

Note: Some say its a  good idea to bring a few sweaters with you but leave your heavy winter clothes at home.  When you go home for fall break you can switch your summer wardrobe with wintry items.   Siegfried's closets, however, are big enough to fit people in... so the choice is yours.
