Energy and Environmental Issues at Notre Dame
Energy and Environmental Issues Task Force
This umbrella organization co-chaired by Zach Einterz and Felipe Witchger serves to coordinate all energy and environmentally related student groups on campus. Currently, its members include leaders from the Energy Center Student Advisory Board, Dorm Environmental Commissioners, Students for Environmental Action, Biology Club, Environmental Law Society, Student Senate's University Affairs Committee and Students for New Urbanism.
Energy and Environmental Issues Core Team
This Core Team has volunteered their time each week to study the environmental issues at Notre Dame. They produce proposals and enact necessary change on campus to bring about a sustainable future.
The ECOFUND: Environmental and Conservation Operations Fun At The University of Notre Dame
The ECOFUND will be a fund to work towards environmental initiatives and research at Notre Dame. All donations received for the fund will be placed into two accounts, an Expendable Gift Account and an Endowment Account. The Endowment Account will feed all interest accrued from it into the Expendable Gift Account where all projects would be funded from. The student body and faculty would have the ability to apply for these funds at the discretion of an ECOFUND panel. The fund is currently in planning stages and will hopefully be in place for the 2008-2009 school year. For more information contact Tom Furlong at tfurlong@nd.edu .

Climate Change Proposal
On September 19, 2007 the two co-chairs of the Energy & Environmental Issues Student Task Force proposed a resolution to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 10% below current levels. The Student Senate voted and unanimously passed the resolution. The Senate presentation cited a campus survey that found 98% of students believe the University should take concrete steps toward mitigating their impacts on global climate change. Additionally, the Student Task Force showed its strength by having leaders from five other supporting groups introduce themselves and voice their support for the resolution.
