Giant-resonance damping: semi-microscopic description (methods, results, perspectives)

Professor Michael Urin
Moscow Engineering & Physics Institute, Russia

*Thursday, October 8, 2009   4:00 p.m.   NSH 124
(Refreshments served prior to seminar in NSH 124)

The semi-microscopic approach based on the continuum-RPA method and a phenomenological treatment of the spreading effect is outlined and applied to description of the main relaxation modes for various giant resonances. Some recent results are presented. New developments of the approach are also discussed.
