Beyond the Standard Model is currently known as the New Physics (beyond the Standard Model of Electroweak and Strong interactions) that will hopefully be discovered at the Large Hadron Collider: well known examples of it are supersymmetry and extra dimensions. Many of the new ideas are deeply rooted in more fundamental theories (as e.g. string theories) and constitute a window to them. I will review how strings are on the basis of New Physics and how they can provide signatures of extra dimensions at LHC that will, if confirmed, make a turn over in our knowledge of the Nature.
