Analytical Ion Beam Techniques on Interdisciplinary Ways

Ion beam analysis of materials is nowadays widely used in many research areas not only in physics but also in other fields of research and applications. In many cases it has lead to new interdisciplinary collaborations between basic research groups as well as between research and industry.

In the talk a short introduction to the principles of ion beam analysis is given and compared to other analytical methods. Then the potential of ion beam analysis is illustrated with examples such as the investigation of diffusion processes for geoscience, studies of the hydration process of cement and the characterization of semiconductor devices
