Research Interests


Professor Jessop’s  research is focused on the search for new physical interactions beyond the standard theory of particle physics. Such new particles offer solutions to some of the outstanding problems of elementary particle physics. This program includes the precision measurement of quantum loops in low energy heavy quark decays to generically search for the effects of any new particles in the loop, conducted at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center using the BaBar experiment. He contributed extensively to the design, construction and operation of this experiment, most particularly to the detection system for electrons and photons.

He is also heavily involved in the CMS experiment. He contributes to the development and operation of the calorimeter used for photon and electron detection and in the direct searches for new particles.
