I took my ND degree and joined Teach For America. They placed me in Dunn Middle School (little know fact, Digger's first coaching job was at Dunn, then called Junior Four) in the lovely New Jersey state capital, TRENTON. I taught with TFA for two years. I had two sections of 6, 7, and 8 grade bilingual social studies. That's right, English and Jive, no seriously, Spanish.

During my second year of teaching I married Jennifer Marie Dean on November 19, 1994. After a Honeymoon in Costa Rica, I wisked her back to Trenton, where she began working as a Planned Parenthood Counselor.

I stayed on to teach a third year beyond my two year TFA committment, as Jenn applied to return to school to get a Masters in Nursing. She chose the University of Pennsylvania, in the City of Brotherly Love. With our need to move closer to Downtown Philly, I jumped at the chance to find a new job. Eventually I was offered a job teaching 7th grade Social Studies at the Abington Friends School, the oldest Quaker school in continuos exsitence in the World. They will be celebrating their 300th anniversary this school year.

The seventh grade is focused on early American History through the Civil War. We do some groovy projects including an archeological dig on the school grounds, which in the past has turned up colonial pottery and coins, Civil war bullets etc. In addition to my three seventh grade sections I get to design two senior electives. The fall semester will be Peace Issues in America since 1945 and the Spring will be Latin American Culture and Politics. In addition to Costa Rica, I have made it to Puerto Rico and Guatemala over the past two years. This summer I head for a new continent and a new hemishpere as I travel with my little brother Tim down to Ecuador for two weeks this summer.
