EVENT ASSISTANT POSITIONS AVAILABLE
Student Activities has set aside a limited number of student employment positions especially for incoming first year students. The Event Assistant position was created to provide first year students an opportunity to make friends, earn some spending money, and learn critical skills such as time management, customer service and communication. Top performing Event Assistants have the opportunity to work in other leadership positions within LaFortune Student Center after their freshman year, such as: LaFortune Building Manager and Information Desk Attendant.
The Event Assistant position is a unique opportunity for new students to get involved in campus life through meeting room setups, facilitating events in the LaFortune Student Center Ballroom, and providing on site support for events at the Stepan Center multi-purpose facility. Work schedules are assigned on a weekly basis based on the number of events scheduled in the facilities. Shifts can last anywhere from 1-5 hours, and a majority of shifts are on weekend evenings. This position does require work on football weekends; however, students will never miss a home game.
An information session (followed by group interviews) will be held on Monday night, August 24 at 8:30 PM in the LaFortune Student Center Ballroom. Students interested in the Event Assistant position must attend the information session and subsequent interviews. The session and interviews will last until approximately 10:30 PM.
In order to attend the information session, students must pre-register.
Pre-registration can be made on-line or in person at the Student Services Open House on Friday, August 21 in LaFortune Student Center. Student Activities staff will be available at the open house to answer questions about the Event Assistant position.
