Technical Skills
-
HTML & CSS
ADVANCED
All my website design is based around HTML and CSS. I first design a psd (Photoshop Document) of what I intend for the website. I continue, then, to make an HTML page displaying this look as a website. In order to incorporate the layout, I structure my code entirely with reference to CSS. More complicated website may need to be moved to PHP or include attached JavaScript, but the basis for all designs begins with my HTML & CSS coding.
-
PHP5 & MYSQL
ADVANCED
PHP5 & MYSQL have allowed my to create more dynamic websites. It allows for content to be updated outside of the main HTML file, which offers many functionalities. Clients and I then have the option as to whether it would be best to incorporate a predesigned content management system (CMS) or for me to design an easy editor for the site. Either way, website updates by clients will be simply based on text editing, much like MS word. All this functionality is provided by my knowledge of PHP and its incorporation of MYSQL.
-
JAVASCRIPT & jQuery ( Javascript framework )
INTERMEDIATE
JavaScript and jQuery have together allowed for my website designs to become more interesting. The language brings options previously unavailable. With HTML & CSS only, a site is most static, but with jQuery, I have been able to offer more interesting options to webpages, such as different fonts, slideshows, real-time opacity changing on images, and many other options.
-
C & C++
INTERMEDIATE
For C & C++ I have had the most technical training. I have taking multiple classes in the two which have allowed me to develop programs, servers, and clients in a variety of ways. Larger completed projects of mine include an email client with encryption capabilities, a peer to peer server and client integration, and a electronic calendar application connected to a server hosting the data.
Also, I have engaged in research utilizing the two languages. Working with two professors and a graduate student at the University of Notre Dame, we have studied land cover change across the world via data mining of remote sensing data (NDVI).
