Proposal
Preparation
Helpful
Hints for Proposal Preparation
— Understand sponsor's priorities and evaluation methods
– Agencies
say this information in proposal guidelines
is often ignored
— Call program officer before preparing proposal for valuable
insights
on agency profiles.
– Ask
for suggestions to improve your proposal
– Or is there another program whose priorities
are a
better match?
–Organize your proposal using sponsor guidelines and/or evaluation
methods
–Make
sure all the required sections are there and in
specified order-- Label sections
the same way sponsor
does so reviewers quickly locate the required sections
– Make note of page limitations, font and margin sizes. NSF font
& margin sizes
If a proposal is rejected,
ask sponsor for the reviewer's comments.
Rewrite the proposal addressing those issues.
A resubmitted
proposal can be, and often is, funded the second
time around
