Biju Mathew.Byte-Sized Nationalism: Mapping the Hindu Right in the United States. RM 12(3):108-128 "Examines Hindu nationalism, or Hindutva, a growing phenomenon in North America, with focus on two components that have encouraged its growth: the Internet and the composition of the movement's leadership. Via the Internet organizations such as the Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America and Hindu Student Councils allow upwardly mobile, financially successful Indian immigrants to become active participants in Hindutva. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad, for example, is able to transfer money to India; so far at least $1.2 million has found its way into the country. Further, the organization's ability to raise funds has skyrocketed in recent years. Although organizations that are accessible by way of the Internet allow Indian immigrants (particularly men) the means to stay in touch with their homeland, it is a sterile, emotionless connection. Meanwhile, many of these men are unwittingly bearing the financial responsibility for the violence that takes place in India each day. 14 References. K. A. Larsen."
