David Barkin.Welfare and Well-Being in Modern Mexico. RM 12(3):99-108 "Globalization and neoliberalism have resulted in increasing polarization in all sectors of society. For example, as Mexico's economy has been restructured over the last 20 years, the government's relationship with the people has been drastically altered. This paper examines these structural modifications, giving particular attention to the different groups within Mexican society. It also looks at the government's reaction to the serious problems that have affected these groups over the last two decades. The examples outlined prove that the neoliberal macroeconomic strategy has excluded many, and that globalization has resulted in a rapid decline in quality of life. It is concluded that those who continue to be committed to the development of an alternate strategy must steadfastly resist globalization's sweeping influence. 25 References. K. A. Larsen."
