Recent News:

October 2, 2009: The latest issue of the Notre Dame Magazine is out, featuring my article on the place of the humanities in a liberal education.

October 27, 2009: The folks at the University of Scranton Press liked the article so much they have invited me to write a book! The working title is The Uses of a Liberal Education: A Guide for Students.

Upcoming Events:

November 6-7: I'll be participating in the conference on Faith, Film, and Philosophy at Gonzaga University. My contribution, a paper called "Groundhog Day as an Aristotelian Parable of Moral Transformation," is adapted from the Groundhog Day lecture from the Morality and Modernity course that I co-teach with David Solomon each Spring. You can hear this year's version of the lecture here.

November 12-14: I'll be giving a paper as part of the Center for Ethics and Culture's annual fall conference here at Notre Dame. The paper is called "The Call of Duty and Beyond: Saints, Heroes, and Self-Sacrifice" and is based on (part of) a chapter from my dissertation.
