6/15/09 VWR awarded preferred scientific supplier contract

Effective June 22, 2009, VWR has been selected as the preferred supplier of scientific supplies for Notre Dame. A competitive Request For Proposal (RFP) process included the collaborative effort of an evaluation committee comprised of members of the science and engineering community. Highlights of the new contract include:

• Savings of $166K per year through
  • Additional  discounts on most frequently ordered items
• Category discounts offered through the VWR/Educational and Institutional (E&I) Cooperative contract
• No shipping, dry ice, hazardous or fuel surcharge fees
• Enhanced electronic catalog in buyND, including Jordan stockroom availability, real time product availability and order tracking
• Next business day delivery for orders placed before 1 p.m. (exceptions can be made by contacting the Storeroom Coordinator or VWR Customer Service)
• Increased Jordan stockroom services, including walk-up service and deliveries to other campus locations (end of July 2009 – see below)
• In addition to a full time VWR on-site stock room coordinator, one part time intern for the Jordan stockroom

VWR is committed to providing a smooth transition for the University. Jeff Wittig, our local Representative, and other VWR associates (technical specialists, site services, and management) will be on campus during the transition and beyond. 6/15/09 Jordan Stockroom Transition - IMPORTANT DATES and TIMELINE

• June 22, 2009 - Receiving of deliveries for Jordan Hall - VWR will provide a full time person for package receiving services and to assist ordering of items
• The stockroom will be closed from June 22 until the VWR stockroom opens at the end of July (The receiving dock will continue to remain open as stated in the point above).
• By the end of July 2009 – Jordan Stockroom open - available for supply pick-up , ordering, delivery and general order assistance (date to be announced)
• Items ordered from VWR in buyND  before 1:00 p.m. will be delivered the next morning
• Updates on the stock room transition will be communicated through e-mail  and also available on Procurement Services website (http://buy.nd.edu)
• Please plan and order ahead during this transition time while VWR is preparing the stockroom for full service.

FISHER SCIENTIFIC

• Will continue to provide a punch out catalog in buyND for the supplies that are not available from VWR
• Will continue a limited freezer program in Galvin Hall.
