5/25/07 Paper price increase
Due to the continuing rise in energy costs and the increased demand for paper, we will see a 7% - 9% increase in paper costs from Office Depot effective June 11, 2007. Paper prices not only affect the copy paper we buy from Office Depot, but the cost of all of the items that are printed for the University.
With that said, there are opportunities that will assist
in offsetting these increases. By using “smart” copying
and printing practices as well as increasing the use of
electronic files, you can control the impact this will
have on your budgets. Following are a few ideas for offsetting
these increases:
- Double side your printed copies whenever
possible.
- Evaluate and use electronic folders for your e-mail.
(Many of the Xerox copiers that have been installed on
campus include the scan to e-mail option.) If information
is easily accessible, the need for printing will decrease.
- Carefully evaluate the number of copies you are printing.
- Consider moving information from a paper-based format
to one that can be accessed online.
