This book was written by an American Indian who, along with her interesting field notes about medical school at Johns Hopkins, likens medical school to the military...the first two years are like boot camp and the second two years are like being in the trenches. She talks about her experiences of being a minority, female medical school student.

Dr. Conley started medical school in 1961 and she worked her way up to being the first female, tenured neurosurgeon in the United States. She also speaks about the sensational events that lead to the resignation of her academic position in 1991.
