Basic Swim Test
The following is information regarding the Basic Swim Test. The purpose of the test is to identify non swimmers and weak swimmers who would most benefit from a Basic Swimming course.

Non Swimmers / Beginners:
- Do not have to take this test.
- Before you leave orientation, you must fill out a Swim Test form to be turned in to your instructor at the end of class.
Deferred Swim Test: "Medical Only"
If you must defer the test, please fill out a Swim Test form and complete the "Deferred" section. Please indicate approx. length of deferment. This should be turned in to your instructor before the end of the orientation session. |

If you have a Lifeguarding, LGI, WSI, or any advanced level of aquatic certification:
The basic test will not have to be taken upon presentation of current certification. Please fill out a Swim Test form to indicate proper certification. You must either:
- Show certification and a picture I.D. to your instructor during orientation, or
- Bring the certification and picture ID to the Rolfs on the day/hours of the swim test.
If you plan to take Lifeguarding:
There is a pretest of:
1. A 300 YARD SWIM using Crawl stroke and Breaststroke,
2. A timed event; Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive, retrieve a 10 pound object, return to surface, swim 20 yards back to starting point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute and 40 seconds.

SWIM TEST at Rolfs Aquatic Center:
- (TT) Thursday. August 27th
- (MW) Monday, August 31st
Before taking the Basic Swim Test:
- Towels available at pool.
- Student must bring swim suit and ID
- A good soap shower must be taken before entering pool area.
- Swim goggles and nose clips are OK! It is recommended that persons with long hair use of a swim cap or tie hair back.
Further instruction will be given when entering pool area.
If a student wishes to retake the swim test:
he/she must first turn in their results and ask for a retest.
All students will report to the Coleman-Morse Computer Lab on Tuesday September 1 or Wednesday September 2 to register for activities or the swim class.
