Revisiting the Chicago School

Chicago School

About the Conference

The last important synthetic article written by Melvin Reder was published in 1982 in the Journal of Economic Literature.  This is the last article attempting to describe the outlines of the Chicago School.  Many have made reference, but no attempt has been made to reconsider its outlines.  This conference brings together contemporary historians of economics, concerned with the Chicago School, to rethink its history and reassess its future.

This conference will cover issues including:

  • Philosophy of Science
  • Law and Economics
  • Agricultural Economics
  • Role of Friedrich Hayek
  • Demand Theory
  • The Important Role of Milton Friedman
