| Title: "High-Order Discontinuous Galerkin Methods and Radiation Boundary Conditions for Time-Domain Electromagnetics" |
| We will discuss a number of issues related to the construction of a robust, highly accurate, time-domain electromagnetics solver based on the discontinous Galerkin method (DGM). Given the ability of the high-order scheme to accurately propagate waves over long distances we are faced with the need to provide effective artificial radiation boundary conditions at the outer domain boundary for exterior scattering problems. We have formulated and implemented asymptotically exact boundary conditions, related to the Higdon radiation boundary conditions, for circular and rectangular far fields and will show computational results. NP We will also present experimental results in time- and frequency-domain showing that if reasonable flux functions are chosen the DGM scheme naturally controls the spurious modes seen in traditional Galerkin methods. We will explain these results using simple theoretical observations based on the stabilization properties and flexibility of the DGM. NP Finally, we will introduce our Unstructured Spectral Element Method (USEMe) solver and graphical interface with some example simulation results. |
