Title: "Long Time Soliton Dynamics of the KdV Equation in an External Potential"

We consider the KdV equation in a slowly varying external potential. We show that for initial conditions sufficiently close to a (zero potential) soliton of the KdV, solutons to the KdV in a slowly varying external potential remain uniformly close - for long times - to a soliton, whose center and size satisfy a certain dynamical equation involving the
potential in question.
