By combining the well-established concepts of compensated compactness and Nguetsengs two-scale convergence a general two-scales compensated compactness theorem is stated and proved. In particular this yields a two-scales version of the celebrated div-curl lemma of Murat and Tartar. A simplification of many results in homogenization theory follows.
