The first phase of this project will focus on building a substantial, linked directory of tools which will function as a starting point to locate and collaborate on applications specifically targeted for the fields of science and engineering. This phase will provide a central, organized repository for both educators and professionals in industry.
The second phase will be a highly coordinated effort to refine the tools into modular components by implementing established open source software engineering standards (Libraries and APIs). The modular tools will allow engineers and scientists to build macroscopic models from micro- and eventually nano-scopic subcomponent modules.
