WELCOME PYROS! On behalf of the 260 women of Pasquerilla East welcome to our family! Pasquerilla East, PE for short, is such a wonderful place full of wonderful women and a fabulous community. The women of PE are from all walks of life and have great stories to tell. You are about to begin a journey, a great journey. Notre Dame and PE are places that can take you far. Enjoy them both and become fully involved in all that Notre Dame and PE have to offer. You are never alone in your journey. Each of you will have a Resident Assistant who will always be available to help you with anything, as will the Assistant Rectors. I promise each of you that I will be here for you if you need anything at all. We are a community that relies on one another and treats each other with respect and hospitality. It is appropriate that we are the Pyros because, like a fire, PE is burning bright. PE women are burning bright with intelligence, independence, compassion, and energy. I serve as the Rector of PE and wear many different hats. I have the responsibility and pleasure to lead PE and make decisions that will help educate and shape your residence hall living experience. I am energetic and I love PE. I must say that my dog, Ella, keeps me on my toes. That’s right… I have a dog! She is 5 years old and a Cocker Spaniel. She’s very sweet and loves to go on walks with anyone who wants to take her. I know she can’t wait to meet all of you so stop by anytime, and I will have treats for you to feed her. Well, that’s about it for now. We will soon all be together, and the journey will begin. Be open to your surroundings, your classmates, your dorm mates, and your new roommate(s). College is the best time of your life! Remember that I am only a floor, phone call, or e-mail away. Take care and may God bless you!
In Notre Dame,
Breyan Tornifolio
Rector of Pasquerilla East

Hi Pyros! My name is Katie Hatfield, and I will be an AR in PE this year. I just graduated with an accounting degree from Notre Dame, and this fall, I'm going straight into the Masters of Accounting program here. Originally, I am from Indianapolis, Indiana, home of the greatest football team and quarterback in the history of the game, and I am fortunate
enough to be the future wife of Peyton Manning (as soon as I get the chance to meet him). My favorite activities include watching the Colts win, seeing musicals, taking too many pictures, going to baseball games, watching reruns of Saved by the Bell, Full House, Friends, Boy Meets World, and every other incredible sitcom of the 1990's, and dancing.
Can't wait to meet you!

Hi Ladies!
Welcome to Pasquerilla East! Allow me to introduce myself. My name is
Layla Karst and I am thrilled to be your AR for the coming year. You can
find me up on the eighth floor (there is also a good chance you'll find tea
and chocolate as I love both). I like swimming, biking, sweat pants, food
(eating, cooking, and throwing), theological musings, carbohydrates,
political cartoons, violining, Friends (both the TV show and the real
thing), recycling, mountains, Nalgene bottles, roadtrips, whitewater
rafting, hula dancing, community, travel, and being a pyro (of course).
I grew up in Idaho Falls, ID and attended undergrad at Whitworth College in
Spokane, Washington (the state, not DC) where I majored in Interpersonal
Communications, with minors in Leadership Studies and Theology. After
graduating in 2006, I spent a year working as an AmeriCorps volunteer,
designing mentoring programs for first generation high school and college
students and in my "spare time" served as a high school youth minister in
Spokane. I'm currently beginning my second year in the Master of Divinity
Program and will be returned from summer travels in Mexico and Israel.
I'm so excited to meet each of you! Please know that my door is always open
and I do hope you'll make a habit out of stopping in. See you soon!
Blessings and peace to you all,
Layla

Hello! My name is Jennifer, but most people call me Jenn. I’m from Houston, Texas (a.k.a. the city of the year-round summer) and have lived there my whole life. I am a biochemistry major, and plan on attending medical school after I graduate. I will be one of your RA’s next year in PE, the hottest dorm at Notre Dame. You have no idea how excited I am about it!
I enjoy keeping myself busy with activities such as volunteering, tutoring, participating in various clubs, and playing on PE’s dodgeball team (interhall dodgeball champions for the past 2 years!). However, down time is awesome just as well. In my free time, I love hanging out with friends, watching any and every movie, playing sports, discovering new music, and tasting new food. These past three years at Notre Dame and living in PE have given me so many opportunities to explore what the university has to offer, all while meeting some of the most amazing people ever. So far, these have been the best years of my life. I have enjoyed every minute of it, and I know you will too!
If you have any questions regarding classes, Pasquerilla East, or even life in general (you name it), let me know! Please do not hesitate to contact me. I will certainly try my best to help you out.
I look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to the hottest dorm on campus…Get ready for the best four years of your life!

Hey PE Pyros and welcome to the best dorm on campus! My name is Karla Albite
and I will be one of the Resident Assistants in PE this year. ND is a very special place and I am so happy to be able to share this year with you. Now, a little bit about myself. I’m a short Cuban from Miami who loves to smile. To relax, I like to listen to Mana (one of my favorite bands), drink green tea (which I will always have whenever you want), organize my drawers, talk with my two little sisters, and dance in my room. This upcoming year I will be a senior majoring in political science and economics with a minor in Italian. I absolutely love my majors, even writing the countless papers. I am also a member of the Notre Dame Marching Band where I am a three year veteran piccolo player.
One of my favorite groups on campus is La Alianza, the Hispanic student organization. I have been a part of this group since my freshman year. They sponsor tons of events including salsa dancing at Legends, the on-campus student club, and Latin Expressions, which is the largest variety show at ND. There are also amazing opportunities for service, so make sure you visit the Center for Social Concerns as soon as you can. Through the CSC, I had the opportunity to spend a summer in Honduras for what has honestly been one of the most beautiful experiences of my life.
For me, ND is my home away from home, my dorm mates are my sisters, and I have found a love so great in this place that it warms my heart and inspires me to want to be better. I will take advantage of this moment I can give you one piece of advice; cherish every moment of your time here at ND. These four (or five) years will fly by and before you know it you will be out in the real world, away from the Notre Dame bubble. Make sure you work hard, make best friends, get dirty and never give up the things you love.
With Love,
Karla Albite

Caitlin Ivester, Resident Assistant

Hello all my lovely Pyros!!! My name is Caitlin Ivester, and I am incredibly excited to be the 6A RA! I am an English and Spanish major from Danbury, CT, and a proud Pyro, having lived in PE since I arrived at Notre Dame three years ago and served as its Frosh-O Commissioner my junior year (along with my fellow RA Kelly Clancy). I also lived in 6A my freshman and sophomore years, and feel so grateful and blessed to be your RA and share in the wonderful memories you will undoubtedly make there! I have loved every second I spent living in PE, from the spirited pep rallies (and the indescribably thrilling games afterwards), to the SYRs where you dance the night away with your best friends, to those weekend nights where I stayed in and watched movies with the girls, and every uplifting conversation, spontaneous dance party, and Office watch in between. In addition to my involvement in the PE community, I work in the Writing Center as an English tutor (I am an unabashed English nerd), sing in the a cappella group Unchained Melodies, and tap dance in an annual dance show called DanceFest. Notre Dame has also given me the opportunity to travel to some incredible locations, from Toledo, Spain, where I spent this past semester abroad, to the mountains of Costa Rica, where I worked this summer teaching English (and dodging mosquitoes!) . I also road tripped it to southwestern Virginia two years in a row to participate in ND's Appalachia Seminar, and witnessed the poverty in Harlem, NYC, firsthand as a participant in the Urban Plunge program. If any of what I mentioned sparks your interest, feel free to send me an email at civester@nd.edu with any questions you might have – or even just to say hi! I'm so excited to meet all of you and help you begin your journeys as Domers. I have made so many amazing memories in my three years at ND and PE - I can't believe I only have one year left. I know that in three years you girls will be saying the same thing! Welcome to the PE and ND family!!

Welcome Pyros!
Get excited-- you're now an official resident of Pasquerilla East Hall, the
hottest dorm on campus. I'm fortunate to be one of six fantastic RAs who
will be living there next year! I can't wait to get to know all of you, but
first I'll tell you a bit about myself.
I'm originally from Chicago, Illinois (the actual city) and am the youngest
of three children. I also have a ridiculously cute dog named Milo who visits
me at least once a semester. My favorite TV show is "LOST"-- I'm addicted.
I'm always up for movie nights, baking extravaganzas, late night Starbucks
runs, and other activities that allow me to procrastinate. :)
On campus, I've been fortunate to live in PE since freshmen year. It has
truly become a second home to me and I hope you'll feel the same way! In
terms of academics, I'm in the process of completing a History major and an
Irish Studies minor. I had the opportunity to study abroad in Dublin in the
Fall of 2007 and am in the process of preparing for the LSAT, which I will
take this Fall. My life at ND has not been all academic, however, as I've
been involved in numerous activities around campus, from retreats to
theatrical productions.
I can't wait to meet all of you and help you adjust to life at
Notre Dame. I hope you will come to me with any questions, problems, or
concerns-- but also just if you want to say hi! Come visit me in 8A-- my
door will be open!

Ladies! Welcome to PE, the banginest dorm on campus. I'm Krista, proud to be the RA of 6B! Woot woot! I'm from Cali, I live in the valley. Sometimes I rhyme. You can often hear me before you can see me. You could call me random. I love dogs. I love to make people laugh and therefore pretty much act like the coolest dork ever. If you like to watch movies, you are in good company. Visit me in my room; I like visitors. Can't wait to meet you all!
